Albert “AJ” James
Albert James, over 30 years of aviation experience, starting with his enlistment in the US Army as a Helicopter mechanic and crew chief in the early 1990’s. After a few years and multiple deployments Albert’s aviation career took flight in the late 1990’s when he attended the Army Warrant Officer Candidate School and Warrant Officer Flight Training in Fort Rucker, Alabama where he earned his commercial and instrument rotorcraft license as well as completing training in the Sikorsky UH-60 Blackhawk. Over the next seven years he flew over 2000 hours and deployed to multiple locations including Iraq flying more than 500 hours in combat as a Blackhawk Pilot as well as attending and completing the US Army Instructor Pilot Course, training more than 100 pilots in the Blackhawk. He continued his Army career and growth by applying and being selected for the Officer Candidate Course commissioning into the Army Aviation Branch and attending Army Fixed Wing Training Course earning his private, commercial, and multiengine land ratings. After completing the Fixed Wing Course, he was stationed in Stuttgart Germany where he flew Army King Airs throughout the European Region through more than 30 countries over two continents with deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. He earned his ATP rating after his assignment was complete. He rounded out his Military career of over 23 years with a Company Command in the Army’s Unmanned Ariel Vehicle Course responsible on average for over 500 Army trainees training to be either pilots or maintainers in one of the two airframes.
After his Military service Albert entered the corporate world of aviation flying charter and medical transport flights in Lear 35s and 45s amassing more than 1200 hours in the Lear. He moved from there to a larger airframe and the Gulfstream IV and 550 amassing 2000 hours of Charter and owner flights with multiple oceanic crossings and more than 40 countries. His experience includes the use of Honeywell CPDLC to include Fans 1A as well as the Honeywell and Garmin flight management system.
He has a Bachelor of Science in Professional Aeronautics from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. Albert is married and has three daughters of his own, all with their own interests in travel although none have any interest in becoming a pilot like their father. His hobbies outside of flying include golf, skiing and generally spending time with his friends and family when he has time. His goals include expanding his Aviation knowledge and eventually earning his Airframe and Powerplant License.
